Good race yesterday. I generally managed to stay out of any major trouble, but didn’t manage to do it quickly enough due to lack of practice. I had made quite a few places from other people’s misfortunes but got a puncture a couple of laps before my pitstop was due which left me almost at the back at the half-way point.

I had a great view of the incident between GF and Alain, the last I saw you were both 10 feet in the air so I was surprised to see you both managed to keep going.

As expected Ian, Matt and I were very close on laptimes, and I seemed to be a fraction faster than Ian but a bit slower than Matt. Unfortunately we were separated by a few second for the whole race until Ian went to mow the grass on the final turn and I pulled up right behind Matt as we crossed the line.

Well done to everyone in the SRS team who were really on form, and to the old favourites still charging around at the front. James seemed to progressing towards alien status again too.

I’d forgotten how hard these races are. My back was aching too (really need to get a racing seat ) and the concentration required is really tough, especially in the latter stages when you’re tiring and the field is more spread out.

Thanks for organising that GF, and to DR for the server. I’m going to get back to iracing now as the new season has just started, but I’ll definitely be back for more so hope to see you all soon.

VMax have set their server to this combo, so hope to see some of you there for some practice this week. The server is VMaxHome.

Someone has kindly pointed out a mistake in the circuit diagram in my PDF. corrected. Pin 10 should be connected to +9V (it was previously shown as being left unconnected.) Sorry about that, I have updated the PDF now, which can be downloaded in post 30:

Anyone done any practice? I managed a low 35 which puts me 2nd in the tracker at the moment.

I managed a 35.7 test driving a hotlap replay, but I can only get around 36.5 with my setups. Hopefully I can get into the 35s again before the race though.

Quote from Jakg :Again - because the alphabet runs out of characters S2 magically has to become Beta?

I doubt it somehow.

Well what comes after alpha? Beta! Makes sense.

Americanified XFG textures
Nick.

This is the combo of textures I've put on my XFG, including BMW headlights and a modded interior of whose I can't remember. I can only really take credit for the rear lights, which is the Americanified part (Turn signals are red as most cars in the US are, and the reverse lights are white again). Fog lights are also yellowed a bit.

Private skin.

As wolfman pointed out to me yesterday, 2nd November is the date of the Brazilian GP. It starts at 5pm though, so there should be just about time to have something to eat before the feature race starts

Yeah, we'll even have a new celebrity TV presenter on the grid!

Count me in. I'll be in the FOX, maybe with 'L' plates on.

Are there any servers set to this combo to practice on?

+1 for me. Something like Oulton Park? That'd be awesome

Alright, I know night has been suggested, but I wanna get a little deeper into it. You can either choose day or night (so that it's always day or night) or you can make time dynamic to a certain time zone (so it can be day when it's day out and night when it's night out). This would also allow for dawn, dusk, etc.

lol!

I do agree though, the whole sim does feel very American. But the way I look at it, iRacing is only as American as LFS is European, so I can't complain...

-1 for me.

It doesn't matter what pit spot you take. First come, first server, y'know?

Absolutely +1.

I don't race very often, but when I do, the cutting on chicanes is always ridiculous. The orginal Gran Turismo Special Stage 11 had a proper chicane in it, and I always crashed in the wall because of it

Okay, maybe you don't understand why I would want this. There are cruise servers that have a copping system and distance bonuses (i.e. TC and LTC) but to be a cop, you have to pit and change your skin to a cop car skin. So instead of pitting and losing distance bonuses, you can change you name and your skin changes, too.

[EDIT] - I understand how this would be useless on race servers, but on a cruise server it makes sense.
Skins to Handles
Nick.

Ok, this might sound a little confusing, but I think we should be able to assign certain skins to names. So when you want to change your handle (i.e. [720*] Nick to [COP] Nick), your skin changes too, instead of having to pit, change and then come back out. It would make it a fluid motion instead of having the wrong name with the wrong skin for a couple seconds. Catch my drift?
